It is a testament to the power and courage it takes to be who you are. When indigenous groups of people maintain the integrity of their community, bound together in the love and sorrows of their history and in the joy and creativity of their artistic cultural expressions, they offer their story to the world through the sounds and images of their collective being, and we are stronger, gentler, and wiser because of it. The indigenous people of Taiwan, currently recognized in 16 distinct, tribes have provided the inspiration for the timbres, structures, and instrumentation in each of the the 3 movements.
