ORPHEUS: Toverzanger in de onderwereld / Magic singer in the underworld for children’s choir and piano
was commissioned by Ars Musica and La Monnaie, Brussels in 2002

I made a rhythmic and rousing text, with names and ideas from Greek mythology and sound simulations of
percussion instruments
This work aims to stimulate the imagination and singing pleasure in young children

First performance on 19 March 2003 at La Monnaie in Brussels with a choir consisting of 600 children
