About Nordraak, Rikard: Ja, vi elsker dette landet (from wikipedia):

“Ja, vi elsker dette landet” is a patriotic song written by Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson (1832-1910) and the music is composed by Rikard Nordraak (1842-66). From the mid-1860s to the beginning of the 20th century, this song gradually took over as the most recognized Norwegian national anthem. Previously, several other songs have been used as national anthems in Norway and in most of the 19th century other songs used were “Norges Skaal” and “Sønner av Norge”.

The first version of the text was printed anonymously in Aftenbladet on October 1, 1859 under the heading “Norsk Fædrelandssang”. It was dedicated to King Carl IV. on the occasion of the opening of the Storting. In 1863 a revised version was printed in Illustreret Nyhedsblad. The design the poem received in Bjørnson’s poem collection Digte og Sange from 1870, has become the final. Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson’s cousin Rikard Nordraak tonesatte “Ja, vi elsker” at the age of 21 years old.

On May 17, 1864, the song was sung for the first time by 24 men’s singers at Eidsvoll in at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Constitution.
